The 5-ELISA ACE2 Antigen kit is a two-site enzyme immunoassay for measuring Angiotensin Converting Enzyme 2 (ACE2) antigen in plasma or in any biological
fluid where it must be tested.

The soluble form of the “Angiotensin Converting Enzyme 2” (ACE2) is present in plasma at very low concentrations in normal population and tends to increase, in clinical circumstances with hypertension, as the result of a cell surface cleavage by ADAM 17. Elevated soluble ACE2 concentrations have been reported in patients with high blood pressure. These soluble forms could be released through a compensatory effect for fighting hypertension.
Soluble forms of ACE2 in plasma have also been reported as good biomarkers for cardiovascular diseases/heart failure. In addition, ACE2 is a drug candidate under current evaluation to fight acute burdens from hypertension. ACE2 is also the cell entry receptor
for SARS-Cov-2, and tends to be elevated in severe cases, without any diagnostic value demonstrated at this stage for that application.
Antibodies to ACE2 have been reported in plasma from patients with Covid-19, and possibly associated to disease severity or long-lasting complications.
